About Cat Shrier, Ph.D., P.G. Cat Shrier has a broad background that encompasses public policy, hydrogeology, water planning and systems engineering. She has served as a Senior Water Resources Planner and Engineer with large and medium environmental consulting firms in Calgary, Denver, Raleigh, and Richmond. Cat also headed her own independent consulting practice, Cat Shrier Water Resources, to provide support on water resources regulatory interactions and public involvement on water resources management issues. Since 1984, Cat has worked with and for federal and state legislative offices and regulatory agencies in Washington, DC; New Jersey; Virginia; North Carolina; Colorado; and Province of Alberta, primarily on water resources and environmental policy and planning issues. Cat’s clients have included public and private companies in the water utility, oil & gas, and mining sectors; public agencies responsible for management of water, wildlife, and other natural resources; educational institutes; water users and other stakeholder organizations. Her work has primarily involved conjunctive use of groundwater and surface water resources; groundwater management; groundwater and surface water hydrology studies and environmental impact assessments; water and wastewater reuse; multicriteria decision analysis incorporating spatial analysis and knowledge bases; water and watershed planning programs; integration of aquatic and riparian habitat criteria with water management decision analysis; and water policy. Cat served on the National Academy of Sciences Study Committee on Managed Underground Storage of Recoverable Water (e.g. Aquifer Storage Recovery or "ASR", recharge basins), which published its report in January 2008. |
